HanBloom
Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 10, 2026
This policy explains how Kael Tech Lab handles information when you use the HanBloom mobile app.
Summary
HanBloom is an offline-first Chinese learning app. Learning progress, notes, saved words, settings, search history, and review history normally remain on your device. Optional Google sign-in, Premium subscription verification, and natural text-to-speech use online services. HanBloom does not show ads or sell personal data.
Data Stored Locally on Your Device
HanBloom stores study progress, review history, daily study statistics, selected vocabulary packs, saved words, user-created notes, settings, and search history locally. The account and subscription service does not upload this learning data. If you deliberately ask natural text-to-speech to read selected content, the selected text is processed as described below. You can remove local data by clearing HanBloom storage or uninstalling the app.
Personal Information and User IDs
Google sign-in is optional. If you choose it, Google provides your Google account user ID, email address, and display name. We use this information for app functionality, account management, authentication, security, and associating Premium access with the correct account. Our server stores the account record and protected session credentials while the account is active. We do not use this information for advertising.
Purchase History and Premium Subscriptions
When you buy or restore Premium through Google Play, HanBloom processes purchase history needed to provide and protect the subscription. This includes the Google Play product ID, protected purchase reference, subscription status, base plan, order reference, expiry, renewal, cancellation, and acknowledgement information. We use it for app functionality, entitlement verification, account management, security, and fraud prevention. Google Play handles payment details; HanBloom does not receive or store your full payment-card number.
Natural Text-to-Speech Content
If an eligible user selects HanBloom's natural voice, the chosen word, sentence, definition, example, or user-created note and the selected language, voice, and speed settings are sent through our server to Microsoft speech infrastructure solely to generate audio. HanBloom does not persist or log the submitted text on its server. Operational logs contain only limited metadata such as request outcome, app version, provider, and text length. Generated audio may be cached locally on your device. The speech provider processes the request under its own terms and privacy practices.
Digital Ink Recognition, Device Identifiers, and Diagnostics
Quiz handwriting recognition uses Google ML Kit Digital Ink Recognition. Handwriting strokes are evaluated on your device. According to Google's SDK disclosure, ML Kit may collect device and application information, configured languages, per-installation device or other identifiers, performance information, and diagnostics for usage analytics and service reliability. Google states that this information is encrypted in transit and is not transferred by ML Kit to third parties. HanBloom does not use advertising identifiers and does not operate its own behavioral advertising or cross-app tracking system.
Service and Network Information
Our hosting providers process ordinary network and request information, such as IP address, request time, endpoint, response status, and security signals, to deliver requests, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and protect the service. HanBloom does not use this information for advertising or precise-location tracking.
Anonymous Aggregate Analytics
We retain anonymous aggregate daily counts such as the number of account creations and account deletions, including how many deleted accounts had Premium access. These totals contain no email address, Google identifier, HanBloom user ID, purchase token, or other stable identifier and cannot be used to reconstruct an individual account.
Sharing, Security, and Retention
We do not sell personal data or share local study data with advertisers or data brokers. We provide limited information to service providers acting for the requested feature, including Google identity services, Google Play, Cloudflare hosting, Google ML Kit, and Microsoft speech infrastructure. Network communication uses HTTPS and is encrypted in transit. Account and subscription records are retained while needed to provide, secure, and administer the service, unless deletion is requested or longer retention is legally required. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.
Account and Data Deletion
In HanBloom, open Settings, choose Account, then choose Delete Account. After server confirmation, we permanently remove the account, sign-in sessions, subscription entitlement records, and linked subscription event metadata. We retain only an unlinked deletion receipt and anonymous aggregate counts. Local learning data remains on the device until you clear app storage or uninstall HanBloom. Deleting a HanBloom account does not cancel a Google Play subscription; manage or cancel it separately in Google Play. If you cannot access the app, use our account deletion page.
Children
HanBloom is a general Chinese-language learning app and is not directed specifically to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes and Contact
We may update this policy as HanBloom changes. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to mugen.techlab@gmail.com.
